Timmy update

He has the saddest little cry, heartbreaking almost. oh and the way it stops and he curls into me when I pick him up. He is so soft and so nuzzleable, especially his head and neck. He is filling out, looking more round and less wrinkly. Which is cute but I do miss the scrunched newborn look. I still can't believe how much he looks like me. But both Patrick and Vivi (Vivi especially) look so much like my husband so really I was due one that resembled me. But I do find bits of both of us in him (in particular his hair pattern, fingers, toes, toe nails, and bottom are not from me). He is so cute. Not in any classic sense, but just adorable in the way a baby animal is. I'm trying to pick out the announcement picture but I can't find one that really captures his essence. Newborns are so difficult to photograph.

Unfortunately he also has the worst case of thrush I have ever seen, likely caused by the antibiotic eye ointment for his eye infection. Which is causing him to be fussy and not sleep and eating constantly most of which quickly comes out in various shades of green. The doctor called in prescriptions for all three of us (Vivi too) and hopefully he will get better soon. Poor kid seems to have also gotten my immune system.

He is a whole two weeks old today. And getting more alert. He is showing more signs of recognizing me and even interacting a bit. I love him so much it is unreal.

He is a bit unusual though. He scooted forward a foot and made a 180 degree turn at 4 days and then rolled over (back to front) at seven days. He was holding his head up when he was born and is now quite adept at doing the "I'm hungry" head bobs. I have heard stories of babies doing these things so young but didn't really believe them. And it is particularly odd because of how small he is. There is also this awareness about him and he is so communicative but not in any conventional, tangible sense.

Timothy just seems like such a big name for such a little baby so here are the current nicknames (by the way we have way too much fun with nicknames if you can't tell)...

Timmy (this will likely stick for a while because it just suits him), little guy, cute-asaur (to fit with the dinosaur nickname theme that started with Vivi), turtle boy, and boy joy.
