Labor Day, as it Mostly Should Be

Today was a day of rest, for the most part. Allura has very quickly adjusted to getting up at 7 AM so of course she didn't let me sleep in much past that today. I made it to 7:30 before I heard her up and around. She was just in time to greet Laban as he came home. I quickly transferred myself to the sofa and put on an Inuyasha movie for Allura to watch. She quickly became very fond of that show and has asked to watch more of it lately but we ran out of boxed sets. I still need the last 2 and I didn't feel like digging out the first couple of seasons that she missed but I did find the movie box.

That was a great diversion for quite some time. I thought those movies were about an hour or so but it must have been closer to 2 hours as I am pretty sure the clock said 9:30 the next time she pestered me for something. I convinced her to play with her Playmobil toys since we were going to pick them all up today so we could play with the Wii. They take over the living room when we set them up so in order to do something else they had to go away.

Somewhere before 11 Am I made pancakes for Allura as I had promissed I would. Half normal and half blueberry. After breakfast Allura and I sorted out all the different sets of Playmobil and put everything back together accounting for _EVERY_ piece. I am proud to say that we haven't lost anything yet, all the pieces from each play set are all there. That means if for some reason we decide to sell them someday they will be worth quite a bit of money. As long as they are in good shape and you have all the pieces people will pay good money for Playmobil. And we keep all the boxes making them worth almost as much as they are when they come factory sealed.

This after-noon Allura and I played Wii bowling as she had been asking for since yesterday when she saw the new Wii bowling on Wii Sports Resort when we stopped by Game Stop so I could drop off a key. She was her usual frustrating self as she didn't listen, repeatedly, to my instructions on how to play. Finally, after her father showed her the same thing I had been showing her for the last 30 minutes she kind of got it and was able to play without massive amounts of help. Gentle reminders to let go of the button were mostly all she needed, and she did quite well. She bowled a recod 115 points (a record for her as it has been over a year since we've played). After I decied I was too tired to play any more she tried out all the other games on Wii Sports and did ok for the most part. She did really well at boxing but she seemed to like bowling and golf the best (her grandfather would be proud!!). To end the session she played bowling 3 more times and scored several strikes and a lot of spares. One game she score around 160 points! Pretty good for a 5-year-old!

After resting on the sofa for another hour or so I started making dinner which was Chicken Cacciatore with cheese. I found a receipe that was hand written (in my writing) the other day that was called "Valerie's Chicken Cacciatore w/ Cheese". I hardly remember ever making such a thing but delicious saucy chicken smothered in mozz cheese was vaguely at the back of my memory. I'm sure it's something I haven't made since I lived in Vergennes or maybe when we very first moved here. Either way, I just bought a bunch of chicken so now was the time to try it. It was just fantastic and I plan to add it to the normal rotation of weekly home cooked meals. :)

Now, off to scub little Allura and send her off to bed. We have to get ready for another school day and I know the teacher wants my help again so I have to get myself ready for school as well.
