last night i met my boyfriend's brother. his birthday was last week, and for no reason at all he asked me when my birthday was and i told him and he asked my sign and i asked his and he is a virgo. in an effort to continue the conversation, i said, "oh. i don't know any virgos." and then i realized that that's probably both stupid and a lie, because having met more than twelve people in my life, the odds are good that one of them was, in fact, a virgo. so because i didn't want him to think i was stupid, i recovered by saying, "i mean, i'm sure i know some virgos. but that's the kind of thing that you don't realize you know, you know? i mean, there are people that own iguanas, for instance. i might even know someone that owns one. but i don't know about it. you know?"
