The toddlers who lunch

Aug 21, 2009 20:42

I just put my son down for bed.
This may not seem out of the ordinary to you, but you gotta understand.
At this time of night, he's usually wired. But I have a pretty good idea why he's out.

We spent the day with The Boys, i.e. Anton, Max, Miles and Theodore.
It was a ca-razy day, to the Hall of Science and back.
Melissa (MIles' mommy) drove us there and back to Anton's. With all of these boys so excited to see each other, no one slept.
No naps among the lot of them.
At the end of the afternoon, Melissa drove us home.
He was still going strong when Jason got home. I wasn't, so we ordered in.

I picked up the bad chinese (Jason has officially fired the guys on the corner) and set everything down.
The room came to a stop when I found our plate of cold noodles on the floor... of the bedroom.
Turns out little man just picked it up off the table, climbed up on the bed, lost his grip on the plate, flipped it over the side of the bed, where it landed.
Nearly every noodle? Saved by the cover of the container. Don't ask me how.
There was yelling, there was screaming, there were tears and hugs, and then we ate.
Jason headed out for his game night and as I checked my email, I realized: the toddler in the chair to the left of me had checked. out.
Hell, even some Dora the Explorer couldn't get boy going.

Clearly, he'd had a long, exhausting day.
So, I changed his diaper, opted to forego teeth brushing for tonight and laid him down.
No objections whatsoever.

Quiet night at home. And the Seven-Year Itch is on.
That ought to do it.

cute, benjamin, babies
