Love/Hate
* I love PBS.
They're doing a piece in their Sunday Arts show on Staceyann Chin.
I remember her from Def Poetry Jam and loved her anger, passion, and defiance.
And she talked about her book (that I did not know existed). And of course, the circumstances that brought her to Brooklyn.
As in being a Black, Chinese woman in Jamaica who would not be secretive or ashamed of being a lesbian. She was a loud-mouthed woman, who fled her oppressive land so that she would continue to be a loud-mouthed woman, on her own terms. Love. her.

Just got a message in my email. I guess six months was too generous. She's gone.
