wow, thats gay
since im on this self-ritchous kick i thught it would be the time to write about something that truely chaps my ass. i absolutely dispise the way that the word "gay" is used. i am always the only one to say "dont use "gay" like that". and me saying that is ineveitably followed by snyde remarks or by the use of it over and over and over to piss me off. let me explain why i dont like it. its because when you say "that is gay" you really mean "that is stupid or "that is rediculous" or something along the lines of that. you never mean "that is aweseme" or "thats homosexual" so you are giving the word "gay" a negative connotation. you are saying that gay is rediculous or stupid, which it is not, gay, in the sense that it is used if it was used correctly means that you are sexually attracted to people of your same sex.(duh but i thaught i should clarify) what people dont realize is that by the use of words to mean something bad that, in actuality mean something different it gives those words a neggative connotation. not many ppl know that the word "nigger" was a real word, some white guy didnt make it up one day to call black people to be racist. but it got a neggative connotation by white people useing it to mean something bad. no, i am not gay, and no it wont be an insult if you call me gay. im secure enough with myself to know that words are words. im not writing this because i, myself an gay, and i shouldnt have to be gay to have a reason for writing this. it SHOULD piss people off when a word that represents actual people who are gay, and have to live here, and hear a word that referrs to their sexual preference be used in place of "stupid" or "rediculous". gay is neither and i dont see why it is used as that.
and im not saying your a homophobe if you say "that is gay" im saying you need to stop, because there are homophobic people out there who HATE gay people. those people see and hear this word being used, you are helping their case. there are extreme homophobic people who have KILLED gay people. you are not helping to stop that kind of message, that gay it "stupid" or "bad"
