I discovered a neat song on the radio and downloaded it. Then, I told my sister about it and she started raving about the band who plays it and told me to download one of their CDs (which, weirdly, doesn't have the track that I really liked on it) so, I decided to give it a try. And I pretty much loved it.
However...it wasn't quite up to my (very, very high standards and/or weird taste) and, for some reason, I was really craving a new Tull album. So I downloaded Crest of a Knave. And, of course, I'm madly in love with it. By this time in my life, though, anything written by Mr. Anderson wins my heart over. I've lost all standards for stuff by the man. But, luckily for me, he is not one to write half-assed music, so I've placed my trust in the right person. It's probably also a good thing that I don't give a crap about lyrics because I have this suspicion that some of the songs are rather...classily raunchy, I guess. I mean, nothing horrible, but Mr. Anderson definitely is not shy about sex. And he's as eloquent about that topic as he is with any other, so it's nothing completely riebald, but still.
The music is stunning though. And, as with all of his albums, there is definitely a "Tull" style to it, but some aspects are completely unique to this album. All of his albums are like this: so very unique yet still have his style. I'm so glad that I've yet to listen to all of his stuff and that I'm able to savor each album for a long, long while.
Other than this, nothing big has happened lately. Fall break provided a much needed relief and I'm feeling ready to start school again. Also, really annoying roommate has been gone since early Thursday so it's been fun hanging out with other roommate. We made cookies and cinnamon bread stuff and dinners and whatnot. And watched a lot of TV. And been generally goofy and not at all productive.
I also got caught up on House episodes. I judged this new season too soon. I'm actually loving it. The change to House's character has been intriguing and not at all as boring as I thought it would be. He's still the Machiavelli that he used to be, but not as...selfish? Childish? I also feel that whatever character development has occurred has actually added another facet to his character. Who'd'a thought that, by making him more..."human"...he'd be more complicated than he was before? Also, I loved having the original three working together again. And James Earl Jones was definitely an added bonus.
I really hope I'm not speaking too soon in these assertations and that the show stays on this track. Or doesn't back-track to the status quo as the writers all too often do...
But...holy cow. Life is so good at the moment.
