I tried to go rollerblading today and got about 1.5 miles before one of my blades felt like a wheel was stuck. After stopping to investigate, I discovered that a screw had actually come out and that the wheel's axle was about to follow. I had to sit down, work the axle out with a small rock (because I stupidly pushed it back in) and then limp my way back to my car on 7 wheels (nearly falling almost every 20 feet; I'll never take for granted how important a back wheel is). I probably shouldn't have tried rotating my wheels when I'm clearly not mentally present enough, thanks to preparing for STEP.
The last time I tried rollerblading, I made it about 3 miles before I actually fell flat on my stomach (well, my tree-truck thighs helped save my stomach from impact). It had deluged a few days before, so there were patches of mud on the sidewalk and I absent-mindedly rolled right through one causing my blades to stop and my top half to keep on going. I amazingly didn't break any skin and only got a small bruise on my elbow to show for it, though I was covered in mud and pretty embarrassed. At least no one saw me. I finished the 10 miles, though my shoulders are still a bit sore from it. I'm just really glad that I have the reflexes and instincts I do. This makes it the fourth time I've fallen, each time without any pads or helmets, and I have never gotten more than a scratch from it.
I have STEP on Monday and...I should be worried. There's still a lot I don't know. And yet...I really can't bring myself to care. I'm gonna wing it like I do everything else and move on with my life.
Sometimes it's nice to have a GAF in the 90s. I talked to my tankmate a few days ago and she says that she's terrified and that she's been studying more than 9 hours every day. So...maybe having this intense anxiety causing me to study more might have been a good thing. It sounds exhausting, though.
Oh yeah, and I'm still into Supernatural. I took a brief detour back into a few LoM episodes and perused my fic folder for that fandom: I found nearly twice as many decent LoM fics than I have for SPN (over roughly the same amount of time). Y'know, for what it's worth...
