There's nothing quite like reading tweets from one's favorite authors that indicate that they're actively in the process of writing the next installment featuring amazing characters. Yesterday I read Mr Lynch's delightful series of tweets:
This tickled me more than I can say (and part of that emotional response is fueled a bit by what is probably analogous to when you have a crush on someone and they say something that, from anyone else, wouldn't merit the slightest snort of amusement. I'm not crushing on Mr Lynch, I'm am just THAT enthralled with his writing and characters. So, maybe it's more like a drug dealer/user relationship?) and I can't wait to see how The Republic of Thieves turns out (though, let's be honest, it could be as slow-reading as I regretfully found Red Seas under Red Skies to be, and I'll still defend it's brilliance to all and sundry who proclaim otherwise.)
Then, today, stuck at school and bored at lunch, I was browsing Mr Howard's tweets and this geme was posted:
"I shall be writing a scene that features Cabal ill and in bed while I am ill and in bed. I call this 'Method Writing.'"
And the squee-fest continues. Not only are we gonna get Horst (this is not speculation: there's no one else it can be) but we get potential h/c, too!!! I am SO fucking excited, and not just because of this new developement: I'd be excited for anything new on the Cabal front.
It's just too bad that I have to wait until fucking November of 2014. And this is a tentative date. There's every chance that even this date could get pushed back, like it did with Fear Institute!
But! There is a dimly shining light at the end of this agonizing tunnel of waiting and it lies in that fact that Mr Lynch's publishing date is only Septemberish of this year. Also, from the summary on Goodreads, it seems as if there'll be enough h/c to tide me over a bit. A bit, mind you.
Oh, my fannish heart...
Speaking of, I spent this weekend actually studying. However, those study breaks were punctuated by me finishing from about where I'd left off in Justified. I'm now excited for the newest episode that comes out tonight.
See? This is the way to do fannish things: don't get into something until the next installment is about to come out (like I managed to do with the "Gentleman Bastard" series).
Oh, and on the Justified note, I think Ava's and Boyd's relationship is one of my favorite romantic portrayals I've ever seen. This is probably not healthy. Also, as with most of the people (from what viewer reviews I've seen) are with me in my opinion that Boyd's shenanigans are what truly makes the show.
And, as of yet, I still haven't been able to get back into reading fanworks. Or rather, no fanworks have reached up to my high standards.
