So, we went to three - count 'em, three - Cubs games this weekend. Tuesday night was FREEZING (literally -- it was something like 30 degrees), and we lost to the Brewers. Wednesday night was cold but not freezing, and we beat the Brewers by 14 runs. That was spectacular. Thursday afternoon was much more pleasant, weather-wise, but we lost rather dramatically, whilst making pretty much every amateur error ever, including but not limited to watching fly balls drop about 6 inches from outfielders' gloves (hi, Soriano! Enjoying your bazillions of dollars?), and two outfielders literally running into each other and dropping a fly ball. What a frustrating game.
Anyhow, it was a fun-filled week of baseball, definitely, but it was also pretty exhausting. Hopefully the 12 hours of sleep I got last night will make up for some of that.
We were in Madison last Saturday, taking care of some wedding stuff, and we stopped at the Rogers Park Post Office on the way out of town to mail our invitations. Exciting! Even more exciting is the fact that we've already gotten about a dozen RSVP cards back! It's fun to come home and find those in the mailbox.
We were able to see the wax mock-up of my wedding band at Goodman's, and it's going to be pretty cool. Looks like it'll match up with the engagement ring really, really well - I can't wait to see it all together in final form! We also ordered the pants for Paul's suit and got the jacket marked up for tailoring, which is exciting. We stopped by the store where Paul got his car stereo so they could show us how to get it back into iPod mode, which took the guy there about 10 seconds (it had taken us about 10 months of pushing random buttons and reading the manual over and over ... and we never figured it out). We picked up some Capitol and some Spotted Cow. We got a pitcher and some popcorn at the Rath and hung out there for a couple hours, reading Isthmus and The Onion. We had pizza with the crew at Glass Nickel. All in all, a great day in Madison!
We also went out for dinner with Paul's uncle Vince last Friday, and he forcefully loaned us the first four seasons of Nip/Tuck, insisting that we HAD to start watching it. So, we did -- and it's pretty awesome. I kind of hate a lot of the characters, but in a way that makes me want to keep watching to see what stupid mistake they make next.
Quite honestly, I'm really looking forward to a rainy weekend of cleaning up the apartment, working on random wedding-related details, and, yes, watching lots of Nip/Tuck ...
