Well, this sucks.

Guess where I spent most of Thursday morning (starting at 1 a.m.)? Mary Washington Hospital's ER. Again. The pain I've been having got to a point where I couldn't move without wanting to scream. It was constant. Dad took me in. I went through triage, but they were so understaffed that I wasn't taken back until 4 a.m.! Finally, a doctor ordered blood and urine tests and a CT scan. After the blood test, I was given an I.V. with morphine and a muscle relaxant, plus magnesium because I was low. The doctor also called my surgeon, because I had seen him the day before. After my CT scan, the surgeon came in and asked "What happened?" I explained everything that had gone wrong overnight. He looked at the scan and said that I had developed a seroma, a large "bag" of fluid that was pressing down on the surgical site and the surrounding muscles. They go away on their own, but it will take a while. After finishing my I.V. meds, I was given a prescription for a muscle relaxant, and sent home. I was absolutely starving after, so Dad picked up McDonald's Egg McMuffins.

My night from hell:

Here we go again.

A room with no view.

Breakfast of champions. I felt better after eating.

So far the meds seem to be helping. I was advised to use a heating pad and massage to work the seroma out.

The day wasn't all bad. I got some happy mail when I got home. I had ordered the mini AG bear for Ashley from eBay. It is so cute.

Today was the 150th Kentucky Derby. It ended in a photo finish, with Mystik Dan winning literally by a nose. Of course, I made Hot Browns and Benedictine spread for dinner. Everyone said it was my best ever, but they say that every year!

health woes, toys!, kentucky
