VVC prep begins in earnest

Aug 02, 2015 00:08

Friday I basically considered a day off, because I was working from home and in *wait for people to get back to me* mode. There was nothing I could do without further input from other departments. And we had cleaners in, because apparently we are not capable of maintaining our floors on our own. Three cats and two tired people with two full time jobs, one of which is one state over... it's not a recipe for faithful housekeeping. We had drifts of cat hair like tumbleweed in the corners. Aaaaaannnd it is remotely possible that I may be allergic to cats. (More on that later.)

Anyway, Friday was basically Day 1 of VVC prep - get the house clean enough that we'd want to come back to it.

Today was Day 2 - hair and nails day!
therienne and I got our hands and feet in decent order, then went to the Hair Torture Palace to be trimmed and whatnot. My stylist did something wild and amazing to my hair with a curling iron that I will never in life be able to repeat - it resulted in long, loose, romantic curls that I couldn't stop touching all evening. Alas, come morning I'm sure it will all go up in a pony tail and essentially remain there until the next time I go to the stylist.

Day 3 will be laundry and cat litter day. I really don't want to have to do a damn thing when I get back, so I want every stitch of clothing clean and on a hanger before I leave. Cat litter in bulk was purchased today, and tomorrow everything gets cleaned out so it will be squeaky clean for the cats and the catSITTER when we go.

Monday is Day 4, and I have to go to New Hampshire and do actual work. I imagine on that evening I will start making a list of stuff to take with me.

Tuesday is Day 5 - packing day!

And then there is Wednesday - Day 6 - NOT a prep day! Wednesday is LEAVING day! Because we've lost our minds -
arduinna,
therienne and I are driving from Boston to Chicago on Wednesday and Thursday.

I have way more room to pack than usual, since I don't have to fit all my worldly goods in a purse and a carryon for a flight. I plan to bring my wonderful amazing happy-making pillow, and maybe a robe. And a curling iron that I don't know how to use, and some hair products I also don't know how to use, and some boring but clean clothes and a laptop and and and...

ANYWAY. Preparations are underway, and I'm really excited! VividCon is Coming!
