Conviction

Read a great quote: "You have to know what you are willing to kill or die for, so that when the time for action occurs, you will be able to act without indecision."

Funny...I think many folks walk through life without every really thinking about what they would be willing to kill or die for. I don't say these things in a "I'm such a bad a$$" tone, but rather because I think most military members have at some time wrestled with this question. I know most parents have, smile. Before I was a mom, I never thought I would ever be in a situation serious enough to justify shooting someone, even in my own home. Now, I wonder how fast I could reload. All due to a shift in my perspective and realignment of my convictions. I don't think your average Joe Q. Public person gives it much thought. Without evaluating what's real, what's necessary for your happiness, how can you evaluate what stays and what goes?

I think our convictions are the roots that keep us from drifting away in a sea of changing tides. But the thing I think folks forget is that they are YOUR roots, not everyone elses. One person's conviction is another person's crazy, I guess. I know what I'd be willing to die for, I know what I'd be willing to do without in my life and I am starting to know my own value as a woman, a lover, a parent and a friend. And I might just turn out to be a little bit of a bad a$$ when all is said and done. Who knows. But at least I'll know myself at the end of it. Warts and all...

Sorry for the introspective post...I just follow after my little brain to keep it from getting hurt on it's own. Hahaha
