Just a quick little update...
First off...let me say that I <3 Storvik, it's leadership and the event staff for Novice. Dun Carraig wound up conflicting with them (we were told Novice was last weekend in June and spike the one before that...only to find out THAT was the one they needed). So, the remarkable thing isn't that there was an error (HAHAHAH) but how well folks worked together to solve it. And, I must say...it's pretty nice not having your group trashed in the process. So...love for all the Storvik folks (and mine) who made this work so well. We're both going to have an even BETTER event than either group on it's own. WIN for the weekend!
As a not-so-subtle segue, at the yet to be named Challenge/Novice event (on June 20th, I beleive)...Dun Carraig will again be sponsoring a Ladies Gallery to challenge the mettle of the fighters OFF the field. When we had this at the last Challenge of the Heart, we asked the fighters to visit the ladies of the Gallery between bouts and challenge themselves to answer questions of a chivalric nature. We had some folks who did amazingly well (Sir Bryce and Sir Colin's teams did well as I recall) and some incredibly amusing blunders. (One of the "tricky" questions for those assembled was asking about the flower depicted on the arms of the Queen of Atlantia, hahahaha). So, my dear LJ brain trust...anyone got some good questions they want to mail offline? Please include an answer and the source of the information so that folks can look it up for themselves after the tournament. I'm hoping to really put the fighters through their paces this year, but want it to be information that a squire or gentleman of the period would be expected to know...so nothing TOO far afield 'kay?
