Waking up and watching the news this morning was incredibly depressing on several fronts, but since this is a space where I primarily write about TV and movies and such, I wanted to take a minute to say how sad I was to read about Cory Monteith's death. I have a rocky relationship with Glee, which I often find more problematic than enjoyable, but one thing that has always remained consistent is the sheer sweetness and likability that Monteith brought to Finn. Even when the character was written as being kind of a jerk, he almost always remained sympathetic due to the warmth that Monteith gave the role.

The two best remembrances I've read about him today are from Todd VanDerWerf at The AV Club and James Poniewozik at Time.
