Julie and I had our second date last night in Beverly. We started with a splendid dinner at Chianti Cafe & Grill. My entree of boneless duck was truly excellent. The meat was cooked to perfection and succulent while the orange sauce was appropriately restrained i.e. it added taste but was not overwhelming. We sat in the atrium section which was keep well warm on a cold winter night. Our conversation was mainly about what we did at our respective job though we did talk about our families.
After dinner, we went across the street to see the movie Sleuth at the Cabot Street Cinema. Michael Caine and Jude Law give superb performances in this psychological drama. The plot, in brief, a cuckold old man (Caine) invites to his grand house his wife's young male lover (Law) ostensibly to talk it over. Humiliation is the old man's true intention. The situation gets out of hand and the tables are turned. There were so many plot twists that it was impossible to tell when the characters were telling the truth. Still, it was entertaining for a date. Julie got a few laughs. We held hands through the entire show.
When we parted, she said she would be busy next weekend, but hoped we would get together for the weekend after that.
