[Translation] 2013.11.01 A Studio - Yasuda Shota

Nov 06, 2013 20:55

Yasu was ridiculously ADORABLE on this and I actually understood most of it, so I decided to stop spamming twitter and post something useful, for a change. GASP!! XD

As you know, I'm still studying Japanese (have a test next week btw, should be studying lol) so this is not 100% accurate. Also I skipped / summarized a few parts, but you'll be able to at least get a gist of it. Guh Yasu is so amazing T_T I really liked this interview, it made me love him even more!! Sorry if I added a few comments here and there - I couldn't help it lol - and there might be typos / broken grammar, but I gave my best. Enjoy!

So Tsurube-san says today's guest is a really nice person, who even called him last night just to say "Yoroshiku onegaishimasu", hahaha.

Yasu enters!! I absolutely love how low he bows.

And he's just so happy, like "Yay I made it!!". It seems he's been wanting to be a guest on A Studio for a while. Tsurube-san mentions he's interviewed Ryo and Ohkura before, and back then he had already talked to Yasu and Hina (and Maru) in private. Yasu says that because of the movie, he was asked "Is there any show you want to appear on?", and he said he wanted to go to A Studio no matter what. Even apologized to other TV companies XD Tsurube-san says he must be saying the truth because he's appeared twice on the show, even if just his pictures XD

(Lol Yasu and his hairstyles, never the same)

Then Tsurube-san says he always eats with Yoko and once they invited Yasu too and Yasu's manners were super good (the best among Johnny's!). Yasu says he's thankful to his parents. Tsurube-san starts talking about the time Yasu's dad hit Yoko. Yasu explains that sometimes his dad attends their concerts, and once he went backstage to say hi and Yoko went to him to say thank you and then his father motioned to shake hands with him, but then before actually doing it he raised it and hit him on the face XD "There, you can talk about it on the MC now" XD Tsurube-say says that Yoko has always said Yasu's dad looks like a chimpanzee, and that NOW he can actually say he is one, haha.

Tsurube-san says that Yasu's relationship with his family seems to be good and Yasu says that he likes them very much - afterwards he looks really embarrassed and mutters "What the hell am I saying on TV?!", but Tsurube-san says that it's all right, because it's a good thing. Yasu says that when he turned 20 his dad took him to his first drink and when they went back home his dad was all proud (like "Awww look, our son is growing up") and started acting all love-love with his mom, so Yasu started clapping and going "Chuu! Chuu!" and it seems they kissed in front of him. ♥ Tsurube-san has done his research and found out that when asked the question "Who's your hero?" Yasu answered "My dad" (Yasu is surprised he went this far and thanks him for looking it up, lol). And it seems that Yasu really treasures the breakfast his mother makes, because it gives him energy (seeing that she cares this much for him. Yasu obviously doesn't live with his parents anymore but you get the deal). Tsurube-san says it's great to see he loves his parents that much. And there's also his older sister, the one who sent his application to Johnny's, and now she's married and has three kids. Yasu says that he always calls everyone and talks for hours on the phone, but that his father is a bit shy. When he's talking to his mother, sometimes she says "You know, dad. Sometimes he really misses you" and stuff, but when he talks to him like "If you're lonely, then say so!" his dad goes like "WHO SAID I'M LONELY!!" XD.

And this time, Tsurube-san has previously talked to Ohkura and Hina (I'm not sure how often he does this, but every time a K8 member went as guest, he talked to other members before the actual show). Tsurube-san says that Hina is so nice he's like the Mother Teresa of Johnny's, Yasu comments "Is it even okay to make this comparison??" XD. BUT! He's been denying to eat together with Tsurube-san for 2 years already. XD Then Tsurube-san talks about the time in which Hina and Nino were eating together and invited Yasu, and Yasu immediately starts to laugh.

Yasu was eating with a friend and Hina called, saying that he was with Nino and inviting him, but Yasu said it would be impossible, that he would go next time. Turns out they were sitting right behind Yasu at the same restaurant (nope, Yasu didn't even ASK where they were, lol), just waiting for him to turn and realize they were there. Yasu just saw them later when he got up to go to the bathroom, and he was so surprised/annoyed that Hina said it was the first time he ever saw him clicking his tongue XD And afterwards it seems they ended up going to karaoke together, lol.

Then the topic changes to Maruyama. XDDDD

It happened while they were recording (there's something about doing the harmonies, I couldn't quite get it - but it doesn't matter much, I think >.>). It seems Maru ended up kissing Yasu's shoulder. "Well not really my shoulder. My cheek or my mouth", Yasu corrects, super naturally. XD Tsurube-san looks surprised and after a brief silence he says that Maru's got a screw loose. Yasu agrees: "He kisses me, but he's a man, you know!".

Hina and Ohkura while talking about this:

I love them omg XD

They also talk about Yasu's problems with Japanese. Once, Yasu combed his own hair with his fingers and said "Shibuyan... Meccha sofuto yaro?" (Super soft, don't you think?) and Subaru was like "What the hell?". Tsurube-san then says that in fact Yasu wanted to say "host" instead of "soft" (sofuto/hosuto), so it would be "Don't I look like a host?" but... fail XD We all know Yasu messes up when talking and/or makes up new words out of the blue on a regular basis, so.

Yasu takes the opportunity to talk about when he was going to ask for the courtesy (maybe water or tea? Depends on the restaurant, they serve you something when you've just arrived) and instead of saying "Sumimasen, oaiso!" he said "Sumaiso!", and the attendant looked at him like WHAT? XD

The caption says "Chotto okashi na Yasuda no Nihongo", lol (Yasuda's Strange Japanese XD).

Then they start talking about the members and how different they all are. Tsurube-san says Subaru is interesting and Yasu says he's the most interesting of all. Yasu says he pays attention to all the details. Like, recently he's been drinking lots of coffee at the dressing room and stuff, so when it was his birthday, Subaru wrote on a piece of cardboard, "Congratulations on your 29th birthday! It looks like you're becoming an adult and drinking lots of coffee recently, so I'm giving you this coffee maker as a gift!", awwwww my Yasuba heart. XD ♥

About Ryo, Yasu says that he likes how kind he is, and how much he fails at it. XD Like when they're touring, they'll normally eat early or else they'll feel too full to move during the concerts. Normally someone would say "Aw, aren't you hungry? Wouldn't it be better to eat something?" but Ryo says stuff like "Come on, EAT!!!" as if he was angry, lol XD But in the end they're all awesome members, of course.

Of course Yasu promotes the album and the tour. "We're starting at Tokyo Dome. Three days. THREE DAYS!", Yasu says, super proud.

Tsurube-san says that in the beginning they couldn't even fill up Shochikuza (1033 seats). Yasu says that sometimes they'd look up and see that there wasn't anyone there and they'd be super sad. If you watched Excite!!, you might remember that part in which a few members appear on the second floor. Yasu says that sometimes they had to cancel that part because there was simply no one there. It was really frustrating but it's because of those experiences that now they treasure every single person who goes to their concerts.

Yasu starts talking about his mom again and asks if it's okay, Tsurube-san says it's okay even if he makes them film during 2 hours (for a 30 min show XD). Yasu says that once, at Shochikuza, his mom was right there at the side, close to the hanamichi, and when Yasu passed by waving and high-fiving she grabbed his hand and just wouldn't let go, he had to apologize and tell her he needed to go back to stage XD. It was great to see his mother was happy to see him giving his best, and his parents often get way more excited than him when he's got performances.

Then movie promo! Tsurube-san watched it! Yasu is thankful! Tsurube-san says it was great and it looks like a foreign movie. Asou-san was cute - Yasu agrees. XD It's a movie full of details, it seems, so you need to pay attention in order to enjoy it fully.

Also Tsurube-san has talked to the director! It seems he said Yasu was perfect for Tendou Yoshimi's role, that there wouldn't be anyone better. Tsurube-san says he cried during the movie and Yasu is totally embarrassed, he doesn't know how to thank him properly, and Tsurube-san can't believe he's THAT embarrassed. "What kind of idol are you???" XD. Yasu says he became friends with Asou-san and everyone else during filming, to the point that they were telling him "Move this and that way so the lights will hit you better and you'll look cooler", lol.

Ohkura is looking incredibly gorgeous here omg.

Tsurube-san says that Ohkura told him that when they had just joined, Yasu was the first one to go to the others with a notebook asking for their phone numbers. XD So yeah, it seems Yasu does everything with care and stuff. The director was like "He'll get tired! He'll get tired!", but Yasu never let it show. Asou-san caught a cold, the director caught a cold too, and they thought Yasu hadn't, but apparently he was hiding it XD Yasu is obviously super embarrassed (again). I was reading the JWeb reports the other day and it seems everyone was amazed at how seriously Yasu took this job. I can't wait to watch this movie, it seems it's a good one!

Lol Yasu. XD

And then they talk about the purification ceremony (oharai - I'm not sure, but it seems that before they start filming movies and dramas, the main cast and staff go to a shrine to pray, wishing for protection and stuff. I've seen it before in drama promos XD). Usually you go wearing formal, discreet clothes, but Yasu... is Yasu lol. Also he went wearing that cross necklace, and wearing a cross on your neck is not the best thing to do in a Shinto shrine XD (not sure about that either, but everyone knows the cross is a Christian symbol). Yasu is suuuuper embarrassed and says the cross is just an accessory he's been using frequently, so he totally didn't think about it. He's still embarrassed, even now. XD (I read on the JWeb report that Asou-san thought Yasu's clothes were a major ice-breaker so it made everyone feel comfortable around Yasu, so despite everything... thanks for being yourself, Yasu XD)

Then Tsurube-san mentions that Yasu can play the guitar, also likes to draw, and deals with the goods designs too. Also Hina is pissed at him because Yasu can do everything and won't choose something to do in particular, lol.

"Yasu, stop" LOL

Yasu also likes to be part of dramas. He says that if he can balance his work and his hobbies, his work becomes fun and he's always willing to do it. Then he talks a bit about the Naruyouni Narusa cast (can't really get what he says in the beginning, sorry) and then talks about Tachi Hiroshi-san, who's taken him to eat before and recommended a "Tachi special" french toast, lol. He seems to be a really considerate person and Yasu says that when he reaches 63 he wants to be a gentleman just like him. He also looks up to Tsurube-san, but Tsurube-san says that if he's willing to be like him then he'd be the first bald Johnny, lol. Yasu says that might be kakkoii. XD

The show is almost ending, so the assistant says that Yasu's words were really sweet and that he smells good too. Yasu laughs and starts flailing his arms just so he'd "throw" more of his scent at her. Tsurube-san does the same and she complains LOL. Then they thank Yasu for the interview and say they'll be looking forward to the concerts. Yasu says he'll keep watching the show from home.

Tsurube-san says that when we're little, our teachers tell us to live our lives while having fun. Yasu seems to be living like that, giving his best at everything he does. Kanjani8 has been doing great things until now (and without Yasu it wouldn't ever be the same), but Tsurube-san is sure that they'll do even greater things in the future and show us a world we've never seen before. :)

Yasu is totally tearing up backstage (why so precious, Yasu!), then he squeezes Tsurube-san's hand and says he's happy and that the time went by in a flash.

Phew this was a great way of practicing, and turned out pretty long, too! I wish I had more time so I could do this more often. Normally I understand around 50% of what's being said or even less, depending on the show, but this time I guess I got around 90%, which I consider a miracle, lol. Maybe it's because he talked about some stuff I had already heard of before, I don't know... but thank you for speaking Japanese I understand, Yasu! XD (Though understanding Yasu when I have no clue about what other Japanese people say probably makes me a strange person...)

Corrections are welcome! :)
