No more teachers, no more books :-(

I am going to stop buying books (with the possible exception of the $5 box day at the Co-op book sale). I am going to stop taking Italian classes (at least for a while). Jazz Fest 2007 is out (Charleston isn't). I've already paid for my opera & theatre subscriptions or they'd be out. I might even stop eating, if I have to. Why? My Italian teacher informed us this evening that she is going to lead a tour to Venice . . . in February . . . for Carnavale. I need to save my pennies! If it's anywhere within the remotest realm of possibility, I'm going.

If that idea is sublime, how's this for ridiculous? Someone on LibraryThing apparently thinks I'm a loon. How else can you explain an invitation to join this group? http://www.librarything.com/groups/911truth#3296 I was tempted to reply telling him exactly what I think, but decided to just delete his message and ignore him.

They're saying one more day of this heat. There was a big power outage here, and the southern boundary was two blocks north of me. Power's restored now, but they had to transport several hundred elderly folks to McCormick Place (the convention center) for relief. I must say, though, the city's very well organized with a program for checking on people and setting up cooling centers. I guess all those deaths in the heat wave a few years back taught them some lessons.
