Frodo took the last of the pies out of the oven and set them on the counter to cool.
“Sam, have you got the turkey ready?”
“Right here, Mr. Frodo,” Sam replied, placing a large platter of meat on the table.
“I think that's it, then,” Frodo said, and he and Sam took their places.
It was odd, having Christmas dinner without Bilbo, but thankfully Frodo had Sam. They'd been through so much together, and Frodo couldn't imagine spending today without him.
The bowed their heads and clasped hands. “Thank you, Lord, for this meal and the company of friends . . .”
