Hey! Let's do that meme where you ask me for pictures of things around my house/life. Go!
Speaking of pictures, it's been a crazy travel month: in the course of three weeks I went to St. Petersburg (...Florida), Pittsburgh, and Chicago. I'm not going to talk about the one you expect:
Pittsburgh: surprisingly awesome! And attractive! Seriously, look at this:
You can get to that view by riding a nifty incline:
My boyfriend's consulting internship has had him stationed up there during the week all summer, so I went up to visit. There was so much to do and see! And we were able to get everywhere on foot or the bus. (Also we rented a tandem bike at one point: HI-LARIOUS.) There were great views, tons of places to eat, street vendors selling Korean and Peruvian food, bridges and art.
Here is the most awesome part of the pretty damn great Andy Warhol museum: a room full of giant balloons filled with just the right mix of helium and air that they float around the room on gusts of air and drift wherever you push them. It was the closest to being in space I think I've ever felt.
Here is the University of Pittsburgh ~*~Cathedral of Learning~*~. (Everything on that campus is so huge! But this is the hugest.) Inside are a bunch of classrooms each designed to look like it's from a different part of the world. (Tho' let's not talk about how there's only one room for all of Africa, when there are individual rooms for, like, Lithuania and Wales.)
(It's not crooked, it's artsy.)
If you climb up to the very top, this is what you'll find:
Also on that campus is the greatest library I have ever been to. And I say that as an insane lifelong library connoisseur. It was open and bright and airy; all the details down to the labels on the stacks were design-blog worthy; there were window seats and arches and giant windows and poetry reading series; and upstairs was a window looking down into THIS:
DINOSAUR MUSEUM LIBRARY VIEW
Plus if you ever get bored, there's an art museum right next door.
Also we had lunch at a place that serves local, organic hot dogs in the basement of an old cathedral: it's called FRANKTUARY. Geddit, geddit?
In conclusion, Pittsburgh: go there. Do it now.
Also do my picture meme thing from the top of this post so I can procrastinate by taking more photos. THNX.
