I just finished watching Gothika.
AMAZING.
The only thing I wished they had done differently was the ending. Otherwise that movie would have had me crying.
It was kind of ironic, well my opinion anyways. Personally I think the movie was filled with soooo much beauty. The actor(esse)s were all beautiful, and Halle's performance was very touching. She portrayed pure anxiety, it was like gold, in the tube.
Ok you might not think its not as great as I do. But considering what that guy did to me recently mustve reminded me of my anxiety/panic attacks back in the onslaught of winter. And you have to admit the movie is pretty anxious at times... well maybe not quite the owl... haha that part where Halle is discovering the Barn, and the owl just out of no where scares you (the audience) HAHA it had no significance to the story, it was just one of those little things to get your heart beating to build you up for... a not so great visualy great climax... The way the bad guy's defeat ended could have been done differently... I think Gothika only got bad rep because people were too stupid to see the greatness in the story and the effort into the more technical side of the film... and probably not everyone is thrawled (if thats a word) by negativity. The visuals look very deep and dark. Not a "gothic" movie either so it kind of sets up a false hope... and I'm sure it got all the mall "goths" excited and sure their fried brains force themselves to be idiots and repell the beauty of the film. I personally think this was an amzing movie, the ending... well if your creative enough I'm sure you could enhance the ending on your own terms...
But then again I guess if your paying to see a movie you want, quality... I say if you haven't watched the movie. Forget what people tell you, and just feel the movie. It's a great one.
It brought my faith back that good movies can be made. I think I just haven't seen a movie that put effort into the story. This story blew my mind away and creeps me out... i left with goosebumps. Which is a good thing because goosebumps means strong emotions... it creeped me out so much I got goosebumps... I hope what happened to Halle NEVER HAPPENS TO ME.
