the above is a particularly nice cover of lady gaga's 'paparazzi,' which has been stuck in my head the whole day, severely impeding my productivity. :P god help me, that chorus is so catchy/lovely/creepy.

LAST THOUGHTS ON POP CULTURE:
went and saw the star trek movie, which i really liked. hypothesis: if all the impressionable tween twilight worshipers see this film and convert to star trek fans, we MIGHT be able to save the future of this country. why? think about it. EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER on the starship enterprise is a fucking GENIUS. it is a celebration of meritocracy, which i think is an important thing to see for young people being brainwashed by the media into thinking "elite" it a dirty word. (but then again, i saw it and i'm still a hopeless idiot, so maybe i'm taking this too far, hehe)

any book recommendations? both fiction and non-fiction welcome.
