She was back in that building, surrounded by computers and navigational consoles. She turned in her chair from her work, worry in her heart. Something was very wrong.
"There's no doubt in my mind now. This whole incident has Sigma written all over it. Where is he, anyway!?" she heard Light's voice, and there he was, pacing back and forth within the room.
"It's obvious that Sigma's involved. But things are bound to be different this time," replied the blonde navigator to her right. Locket remembered seeing her the last time she touched a crystal... but what was happening now? Locket didn't remember even finding one...!
"It doesn't seem as if he's controlling these new Mavericks like puppets..." she continued, unsure.
"They all seem to... BE him."
"Do you mean copies of Sigma?" Asked a black-armored robot nearby. She recalled seeing him before, too, his voice similar to the one from the little dog that followed her around months ago. Locket wasn't sure she could make the connection without more proof.
"I'm... not sure. So far, all the sites attacked have been related to the Jakob Project," the blonde replied, turning to her console and typing away. She stopped when blaring red lights filled the room, alarms sounding.
"Huh!? I'm picking up a transmission!" She said, opening the channel. Was there any other choice?
Light, the black-armored robot, and Zero turned their attention to the main screen as it came to life, revealing the caller. It was a large and imposing figure with glowing eyes, a scarred face... something about it made Locket feel the cold sting of panic, and she wasn't sure if it was in the memory or in Edensphere.
"Sigma!" Light shouted, eyes never leaving the screen.
"Long time no see, X," Sigma greeted, his voice harsh and gravelly.
"You just don't know when to quit, do you?" Light asked. X? Was his name X?
"Don't worry, X," Sigma replied mockingly. "It'll all be over soon and we'll never have to meet again. All the primitive space development of your world now belongs to me..."
"What? Space?" Zero said, furrowing a brow.
"That's right. Our future lies in the sky! Your old world has outlived its usefulness," Sigma replied.
"Maverick scum! What's your scheme this time?" X demanded.
"Scheme?" Sigma repeated. "This is providence! I'm merely ushering evolution along its natural path."
"Evolution...?" The black-armored hunter asked, curious, but the transmission cut off.
"So, Sigma was really after the Jakob Project all along?" X asked, turning to the blonde navigator.
"If you stop to think about it, it makes a lot of sense," she answered.
"Space development and the emergence of new generation Reploids aren't unrelated."
"So, he's causing these new generation Reploids to go Maverick, huh? We can't let him get away with this!" Zero said.
"Sigma's transmission was disrupted by the orbit of the satellite... this is lucky! The Elevator is still functional, so we can use it to get to him!" The blonde continued. The three boys looked determined, and prepared to move out as things went dark...
[ooc: ...Yeah I never said Megaman X8 made sense. Even if you know what's going on this scene's kind of wtf, but memories are memories!]
