I'm posting while on my lunch break? Instead of working? Yeah, I know, it's shocking. I'm my own worst slave-driver. So I'm practicing slacking and trying to ignore deadlines and upcoming projects. Besides, I've got a lot of news to feed to the Internet.
Flannery and I recently took a week off and did a lot of hiking, read a lot of books, slept under the stars in the Carmel Highlands, and basically didn't work at all... on anything.
We also adopted a cat from the Oakland SPCA. Zeke his name is. He's an orange tabby, about a year old, and a chill little dude... except for the occasional bite. [maybe pics later? I dunno, I hate people who do nothing but post pictures of their pets online]
Speaking of Oakland, "
peep this" great little commercial from SF's own comedy troupe, Killing My Lobster.
Last Thursday, I got my very own ... [drumroll] Driver's License! Yeah, I know, it's a bit late (almost a quarter of a century late). But I've never been big on driving, have only owned one car (and that was 15 years ago and only long enough to rebuild the engine in it), and didn't really need to drive when I lived in public-transportation rich SF. But, with the wife and I taking more driving trips to remote hiking spots and whatnot, well, I thought it was time.
And you know what? I'm a pretty damned good driver, despite the fact that the DMV's camera makes me look like Michael Moore:
