Trials and Tribulations of the Lunch Hour

I could really go for some falafel right now. Sadly the heat and sun are so oppressive that I doubt I can make it much further than across the street without dying or at the very least invoking a sun headache. I am also still carless, practically a week after taking my car to the shop. And so I shall not walk to the Armenian market and get falafel ( Read more... )

We had them in OR, too.

But you're generally right. Most of the "taquerias" around Boston I wouldn't rate as one. And this one is slightly questionable as it is in a mall food court. But I will give it the following:

They serve horchata. They only have two people and they're both cooking so they take your order from the kitchen and you have to yell it. Only one of the two speaks English. The sign above the counter is made out of paper. The items on the menu include: quesadilla, tacos, fajitas, carne asada, tamales.

Correction: they also have burritos on the menu

Also, the paper sign has now been replaced by an air-brushed plywood sign.

well if it were either puke, taqueria, or a teeming mass of people I would definitely pick a taqueria! i haaaaate crowds of people, even though I do love panera, it's not worth it.

I don't know why you're even aksing this question. Taqueria, duh. Fuck icky mall food. I've successfully weaned myself off going to the burger king in the VA. Fast food is now only considered a necessary evil after a bender (until a 24 hour taqueria opens up close to my hood, which is doubtful). Tamales sound super fucking good right now.

I don't know either. The taqueria was good. Sadly, they were out of tamales, so I had a carne asada burrito. The thing was HUGE. It had to be like 6" long and 2.5" wide. Mmmmmm... brick of burrito in my tummy. Mmmmmmmmm.....

I am jealous...the closest Mexican food I can get is nasty ass taco bell...and its 45 minutes away. of course I get it every chance I get.

I also miss a good falafel....so much that I broke down and bought the falafel mix from the bulk store...kinda salty, but not too bad, considering its a bloody mix.

Its always crowded at the Panera here (of course you know its St. Louis Bread!) but worth the wait for their Asian Seasame Chicken Salad.

Although with those choices I would have ended up at the taqueria.

I totally know its St Louis Bread Co! I still call it that, all nerdy-like.

I love the fuji apple salad they have right now.
