Not long ago I noticed the colors of the autumn foliage as I was driving home from M-‘s school. Ch- was in the car with me so I asked him to quickly name all the colors he could see. “Red, brown, yellow, orange …” He stuck with the basics, occasionally elaborating with the words dark or light. As for the colors, we just had a chapter on language in my cultural anthropology course, and that's universally a male/female difference. Males will do just that, label colors as orange, red, brown, purple, they have about 10 words for color. Whereas females have unlimited words for colors. That happens around the world, not just here.

Just a bit of Sunday night trivia. :o)

ps. I like your color for Cheer. Sounds like Champagne.

I think I was actually thinking of Asti :)

Champagne tastes too dry to me ... I like my celebratory sparkling beverages sweet.

"Cultural Anthropology Course". {sigh} Heaping envy on your head.

I absolutely believe this theory to be true, btw. (Though I have to mention that my daughter is particularly good at recognizing and naming subtle shades. Her perceptions just seem sharper than most. She had perfect pitch when she was little too.)

My husband and I also believe that males are hard-wired in such a way that prevents them from finding/seeing anything they go looking for.

Man = hunter/chaser. Woman = gatherer/rememberer.
