Behind the cut, I address the following questions:
  • Why did I add you to my friends list?
  • Why am I keeping an online journal?
  • What sort of people am I hoping to meet through Live Journal?

Hey there. Finally noticed that you added me to your LJ. Since you're new to LJ and probably want to get some of the people you added to read your LJ, I'd probably drop a comment or two on entries you especially liked in their LJs--just so they know you're out there and reading. In turn, it may entice them to swing by here and check out your LJ--which seems to be starting off well. I enjoy the quality of your content and the way you write ( ... )

    So that's what was was going on ... moderately_mad April 18 2005, 14:04:08 UTC
...I'm so new at all this that I thought YOU had screened you're reply somehow. I think I've fixed future problems by tweaking my settings.

Howdy. Saw you added me, thought I'd come say hi. I'm swamped currently, but we have a number of interests in common so I'm sure I'll manage to catch up on your journal while procrastinating on my homework ;) If I don't appear here, comment in my journal and I'm more likely to show up and return the favor!

Worth noting for the sanity of your readers - you have listed 3 J's and 2 D's. You might want to create different nicknames, or use letter/number combos. For example, I have J1 - J5 (though I really only refer to one of those). Because I hadn't thought it through, I also have K0, K1, K1.5, & K2. You see, I assigned monikers to the two most active K's in my life before realizing there were other K's to whom I might want to refer, and the only way I can remember who's who is to number them chronologically by when I met them!

    Cheers, and welcome to LJ!

    Now I'm giggling. moderately_mad April 19 2005, 08:32:22 UTC
And I don't giggle often. You see, I'm roaming around tonight, checking out random bits & pieces on lj, and feeling a little creeped out. (Its very late and I'm popping into journals which discuss sightings of strange creatures on isolated roads.) I actually jumped when you posted. Apparently I assume EVERYONE else in the world is asleep at 3:22 in the dark of the night. (I hate saying "in the morning" unless I mean "I've recently awakened for the day".)

As to the the J & D confusion? Got it covered. I'll always use Sister D or Sister J to indicate one of my beloved semi-siblings. You must be counting J&C as the third J. Perfectly sensible. Even in real-life the two names are inextricably linked tho', I never mention one without the other. Worst case scenario, I'd probably write J of J&C. Quirky enough?

Actually, your use of initials is one of the reasons I added you to my friends page. It points toward common ground. Thanks for saying hi ... and for making me jump ... and for making me giggle.

Thanks for adding me. You sound fascinating-and we have some things in common.

Please don't be scared of my entries though-I try to keep my journal well rounded at least. :-)

    Fair Question moderately_mad April 21 2005, 03:59:21 UTC
I must admit you are a random find. It was the self improvement interest. 'Probably not enough to justify reading your journal but you don't provide a ton of info on your profile page so I popped into your recent entries. I enjoyed the not-cloying tone of the entries I skimmed. (Me? I cloy more than I want.)

I gather you are teaching in Japan. I also gather you are a writer. 'Sounded interesting. Part of the fun of lj lies in observing different lifestyles and personalities. (Most of my real-world friends live just like I do ... very suburban.)

    Comments on your comments:
    Liar?

The manic type. Also verging on obsessive/compulsive. With a tendency toward perfectionism.

As for the intimacy question? Why, I hardly know you! Seriously--I'm just passing on what I've been told.

Perhaps you're right about the dreaming and creating bits but I have a family rife with carpenters and mechanics who will tell you that building is far more useful than designing.

For antiprime's sake (interesting name, BTW), I felt obligated to chime in with a minor clarification. When moderately-mad says her moods are unpredictable AND obvious, I must assure you that it is NOT in a typical girl kind of way. My dear mad friend is not a drama queen, although people who don't know her well might describe her that way; she simply has never had a feeling she didn't exhibit in some way. It's not even that she lacks self-control, she simply lacks the walls that most people hide behind. She is one of the most passionate people I have ever known. It's one of her most endearing qualities, when it's not driving you absolutely batty!

Hello there fountaingirl April 25 2005, 21:02:01 UTC
I too am new to LJ, and although our profiles don't match I found you by wandering around through a friend of a friend's friend list (say three times fast). I also am interested in affective disorders, am rapid cycling bipolar myself, and I too am a mother of 2. I like that you seem to be interesting, I enjoy writing too although usually hate what I write, and I am a sociologist by profession who usually conducts research with a social-psychological (interactionist) perspective. We may have more in common than our profiles suggest. I'm gonna ad 'ya, I hope you don't mind.
