My school has some of the most upsetting individuals, ever.  In fact, we have a group called 'Overheard at Miami' because of it.

Today, whilst at a dining hall:
GirlA- Man, I had some great vegan tomato soup yesterday...there's one thing I don't get though.
GirlB- What's that?
GirlA- How do they make it vegan? Soy tomatos?
(I did a double take to see ( Read more... )

my grandma wouldn't give me crackers because they were made from wheat. i still, to this day, do not understand what in her brain was making her think that wheat is not vegan! she kept saying, "but the crackers! they have WHEAT! and you are VEGAN!!" and i kept saying, "grandma! wheat is a GRAIN! you know, wheat fields? i like eating wheat. crackers, please." and she wouldn't give me any! and it's not like she hasn't seen a wheat field... she used to live in rural farm areas.

and yeah, i'm tired of people confusing vegan with organic with vegetarian and thinking that every vegan food ever is made out of soy or tofu or something.

But don't you see? Vegans only eat tofu! That is what veganism means!

As a devout vegan, I don't even drink normal water. It has to be water extracted from soybeans, so that it has gained the metaphysical property of veganness.

well, i only breathe triple filtered oxygen extracted from organic soybeans farmed on land watered with soybean extracted water and owned by the direct descendants of Elsie Shrigley and Donald Watson, founders of the UK vegan society.

Let's all mock me too because the first thing I thought was "vegan tomato soup? How does that work?!" for some strange reason.

You're probably used to creamy tomato soup, which is made with milk, and is therefore not vegan (which is why I had to double check and see if the OP mentioned soymilk. I know there ARE people that make tomato soup with a water base, but I don't think it's as common in my area (northeast US) as milk-based tomato soup). Unless you're thinking tomatoes are animals, in which case, you might need to watch fewer cheesy horror movies :)

Actually I'm in Pennsylvania and the only tomato soup we make is water based. So I was utterly confused on the milk angle. Adding any kind of milk (soy or otherwise) just sounds gross.
