Vergil stopped by Devil May Cry. It had been too long since the last time he had any sort of contact with Dante and Eva. He could sense something was wrong. When he got there, his suspicions of them leaving became an agonizing reality, and he was greeted with an eerie silence and emptiness of that truth. He felt angry at first, but Eva had left him

For some reason, she felt the urge to check at that place where his brother worked and where his mother stayed. She didn't even bother knocking at the door and walked inside. Taking a quick look around and a deep breath she found her way to where Vergil was. For a moment, it felt like her heart was about to shatter in her chest, but nothing like that ever happened to Laura.
Leaning against a wall close to him, Laura sighed a little. She wasn't sure what to say; he had been standoffish to her and he hadn't been like that for a while. Something was wrong and she wanted to know what it was. "Are you going to talk to me or not? I want to help you, Vergil."

"I drove them away." His voice was monotonous.

"I highly doubt that you drove anyone away," for once her voice sounded like she cared. It no longer had that hard edge to it. "Tell me what happened -- I am here for you and I will not abandon you."

"... I failed them. I will always fail them."

"How have you failed them? Because your brother pushed you away and threatened to hurt you if you came anywhere near Eva?"
Her eyes held a sadness they had never had before in her life and it was all because of him. She felt powerless at the moment and she hated feeling vulnerable. Mulling over everything, her thumb brushed against his cheek before she stopped herself from doing it again.

He eventually broke free, standing from the chair and walked away from her, walking past the things Eva left him, he didn't even realise they were in view. His expression not looking too pleasant. He also maintained a firm grip on Yamato.
"...With reason." The words almost hissed. "I threatened her very existence. I am no better than them. Before, I couldn't prevent it, now, with their nurturing and guidence to attain power to protect, I almost caused her death -- either way I have lived I have achieved nothing."
His expression slips away and turns into one filled with sadness. "Dante leaves with the real woman. I am left with her grave. As a reminder of all that."

Jerking her hand out of his, Laura took his face between both her hands and glared at him, "Vergil, stop this. Everyone deserves happiness. You are no different than anyone else." Her expression softened slightly. "Why can't you see this? Your mother tried to show this to you.."

"N-no..." it was almost a grunt, and he shook his head.

"Talk to me, Vergil.. You are not alone in this." She rubbed his cheeks with her thumbs before she pulled her hands away.

He stood there, quiet, before these words broke that silence.
"I have to go."

Laura grabbed onto his arm and pulled him towards her. There was a determined look in her eyes and she kept a firm grip on his wrist.
"There is nothing saying you have to leave. No one is forcing you to leave, Vergil. Just talk to me."

Her determination to get him to stay with her was quite overwhelming. he didn't know how to deal with it -- it is something he had never encountered before.
He wanted to get out, and he wanted to stop feeling as if he was drowning in this mealstrom of emotion. Without really thinking, he shoves her back, and slashes with Yamato.
Once he realised what he'd done, a part of him wanted to see if she was alright -- then he remembered her abilities. With a little hesitation, he finally rushed out of the building, slamming the door shut. Before leaving the area, he bolted the door shut with some phantom blades. In a few minutes, they would disappear, or shatter if broken. Either way, it will give him enough time to disappear.
