another day at the accounting library
This weekend was Fantastic because I didn't have to work until tuesday (today)! I started it off with a BBQ/Bonfire at the Beach with Burak, Lena, Okan, another one of their friends - a girl from turkey, Chantel and a good ol' Webber. We got there kind of late after having to stop at Ralphs and pick up people so we didn't get a fire pit immediately. Later we snaked one after a group of people left but were then kicked out by the cops. Sigh. Damn L.A.P.D. Anyway, after some serious dousing of lighter fluid on the coals, we had a nice lil fire going on which we cooked some National Hebrew beef wieners with some ballpark buns. I brought the S'mores fixings and we bought some chile limon chips. They were nice and spicey. I miss BBQs on the beach. Everyone loves them. They aren't that expensive. And the ocean provides a fabulous backdrop and some rhythmic music to some good laughs and great times. Not to mention - great food. That was friday in a nutshell.
Saturday I got to sleep in and didn't do much until Tif and I went to the pool around 11. I swam and decided that it was time to even out my frosted miniwheat- like body. (For those of you haven't seen me in a bit, my back was dark and stomach was WHITE from swimming at the pool. I laid out a bit too long and got a solid burn on my chest and stomach. OUCH. After the sun, I took a painful shower and passed out in my bed for an hour. That night Jess, Tiff, Amanda, Ryu, Karina, Shinji, Diane and I went to Souplantation - which is an AMAZING buffet with soup, salad, pasta, carbs and a killer dessert softserve sundae making station! I think i'm in love with it. After everyone felt stuffed and food coma, we headed back to 'SC and chilled at Citypark I. We watched MADE in an apartment without the owners being there and then left as they were coming back. haha. The MADE episode was about a tomboy who wanted to be more femine. I wanted to shoot the trainer - Ashlyn. She wore white gloves to have tea - enough said.
Sunday was the best! I woke up at 6:40 after feeling rested and got ready to go surf with Chantel. We made the 1.5 hour drive to San Onofre (my favorite surf spot). We surfed for a bit over 2 hours. There were a lot of paddlers out there and one really friendly guy on a waveski who was really really chipper. After a bit we decided we were dying of hunger and our arms need a break so we paddled in, ate an apple and dried off on the beach for a bit. Not wanting to leave our parking spot to get lunch, we decided the waves looked fun and headed back out about an hour later. We surfed for another solid hour during which Chan had an awsome ride on my board and I had a really fun ride on her 9'0 Stewart. I've never gone so fast on a wave - it was ridiculous. After that we dried off a bit on the beach then our stomachs made it known that they haven't had anything to eat since we woke up so we headed off to find some grub. We managed to find Pedro's Tacos- a great lil cheap stand for some great mexican food, where we ate hungrily then hopped back in the car and drove home. Once there we cleaned up and wanted to finish out our fanatastic surf day with a surf movie. We watched Riding Giants and ate some delicious fruit. I drank a Diet Snapple Raspberry Iced Tea and lots of water so I had to pee 4 times during the movie. I have no bladder. Once the movie ended, Chan was ready to crash and I went home where I played on the computer a bit, met Veronica's cousin and her friend and fell asleep around 10pm. What a great day.
Monday, I woke up at 7 ish and felt rested and ambitious so I started packing up my crap. Around 1, Tif Tif, Jess, Chantel and I went hiking in Runyon Canyon, where we got a great view of the city. The hike was only about and hour. Tif and Jess hadn't eaten so we went to Daphne's Greek Restaurant and afterwards to Target. I bought some Aloe...This too I am in love with. Once we got back to 'SC, I ran around the school then to troy east to Kate's where we watched a thing on the actresses of Sex in the City. I was then hungry and went home to eat a salad plus junk food. Jess and Rory came over around 8:30 to watch 50 First Dates, but then we ended up watching Roadtrip, which I got for my birthday from Elana. I hadn't seen it, but its pretty funny. I liked it.
Today I got up and got to go surf with Burak before work. The water at Porto was Amazingly clear and it was LOW tide. The waves were pretty fun too. Work is dull, but at least I didn't have to do any manual labor today. Its about closing time so that's a wrap.
