It's raining softly outside, lightly enough to have the windows and balcony door wide open to let the rain smell come in. Ethan's sleeping still. I just got up a bit ago- we were both up late last night, so I slept in to 8:30, which is very late for me.
Tae and Dan came over last night for dinner and games. We had a blast, and I think we need a copy of Settlers of Catan. They taught us to play that, and Puerto Rico. I liked Catan better, mostly because it's simpler to set up and the ruleset is more... intuitive. Games that take as long to set up as to play bother me. That's why we'd only cracked open our copy of Risk once before a game day, we got it all set up and then I decided I wasn't interested in playing anymore. :)
Ethan works today, but we also have a work party up at Sally and Elliott's. They've decided to swap bedrooms for two of the girls, so it's a day of furniture moving for us. Sal and El would normally do it themselves except El just had knee surgery, so they called in the troops and we'll get it done in two hours and then party. Ethan will come but has to work at 4 (sigh). I think I will watch anime and knit tonight; I want to start Dan's klein bottle hat, now I've got the pattern calculated out and the yarn bought. Besides, I've not memorized the dialog for Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex season 2 yet. :p
Tomorrow will also involve labor, alas. I'd stopped at the Carruthers grandparents to check in on the garden and found Alex contemplating the grapevines climbing onto the roof. He pruned the crap out of them earlier this year, and they're showing no signs of grapes (woohoo no grape jammaking this year!) but have been vining out like crazy. After a split-second nightmare of Alex falling off the roof, I told him we'd come on Monday and do the work. Ethan's a hellova lot more agile than Alex, and I work faster. Hopefully we can get it done in an hour or so.
Later, Alex called Ethan's stepdad and told him we'd stolen his ladder (translation: I can't find it and will therefore blame its loss on the last person I talked to). What the fuck?!? Chalk that up to senile paranoia. We'll find it for him on Monday.
