Went down to Lanesboro for the holiday Dinner Dance, which was last night. It's an annual event and a pretty good party; Nancy's been the chair of the organizing committee for a few years now. She got us tickets, so we trundled down on Friday night. I'd been in required training until 3 PM, so we got a lot later start than we like. I was knitting in the car on the way down, got a lot done before the light failed. Pretty low-key evening because they were tired from doing all the setup at the community center that day, and we were tired from hauling down a little later than normal-- we simply had dinner, then talked for a while and wend to bed early.
It was a really good time. The dinner was excellent- very rare roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, steamed root vegetables, a spring greens mixed salad, bread, with a chocolate-raspberry mousse for dessert. They had a good DJ as well and Ethan and I had a blast dancing. We would have closed the dance down (they ended up locking up around 2 AM) but Ethan was scheduled to work today at 10:30, which meant we had to make an earlier night of it. I hauled him out of bed around 7 today and drove back to the Cities to get him to work on time. Not very fun after the previous late night, but doable. A strong cup of coffee in Rochester really helped, though.
My sister and I often talk about housework zen. It's that state when you flow from one task to another without really thinking about it; just recognize it needs doing, get it done, and then let it slide past you. Not as fast-paced as powercleaning, but a ton easier on the self. I can get get a lot of stuff done in zen mode. Zen happened when I got home.
Got home, got Ethan off to work, unpacked, started the laundry, threw ingredients in the breadmaker for that nice fine-grained milk bread, finished making turkey wild rice soup from the Thanksgiving turkey stock, folded all the laundry, had a bite to eat, cleaned out the refrigerator.
I think I will knit tonight and finish the baby booties. Got most of the components knitted, and just need ot do the finishing. I would really like to mail those out tomorrow. However, there might be a WoW raid to join... I will need to pop on and check with the guildies before I make any plans.
it's very good to be home. I think I will go to bed early tonight, whatever else I may choose to do.
good times!
