Yesterday was my last day at Target. I thought about it a lot, and I decided it was better to get out sooner and figure out what I was reacting to after the fact than stay longer and potentially increase the severity of the reaction. It was a strangely quiet night there, with a lot of sugar-fueled joking on the employees' part. Whenever bags of halloween candy break open during October, Target #619 saves the 'damaged' candy (we have to charge it back as ruined) then puts bowls of candy out at every checklane and at the service desk on Halloween night.
After work I met Ethan at Barley John's and we sat by the firepit outside for a while. One of the line cooks there came out and we talked food and beer, which was a great deal of fun. I don't get to argue spicing very often, and the line cook had an exquisite appreciation of lamb chops. Barley's has a really good Belgian Ale right now called The Golden Rose, their standard Belgian Ale spiked with their high-test barleywine (called Rosie's, after the owner's daughter, hence the final name). Excellent stuff.
No word yet on the allergy test result. I have a call in to the nurse. I hate waiting.
It's a continuing education week. I have two of three classes in XML this week. Angie-the-coworker and I are taking them together, and work is picking up the bill. It's prep for upgrading one of the modules in our main software package- the program changes from text output to XML output in the upgrade, so we need ot be able to reconfigure the interface to handle this.
Ethan's birthday is this weekend, and we're going down to Lanesboro to celebrate with his family. We've not been to Lanesboro since (*thinks hard, finally consults Outlook*)... has it really been the end of May? Can't be right. (*checks LJ calandar*) Dammit, it has been that long. So it will likely be a busyish weekend in the Lanesboro fashion, punctuated by evenings around their firepits and long baths in the carriage house's spa.
His birthday present will not be here in time, unfortunately. I got him a chocolate brown Utilikilt (
https://secure.utilikilts.com/catalog-workman-index.htm) in the Workman style. It will be here by Christmas, though. Drool.
