December already?!?

Wow. Amazing what a boatload of stress and the holidays can do to you. I can't remember most of the month of November.

Work has sucked the proverbial dead rats through straws recently. Big ugly stinking sewer rat corpses and itsy bitsy cocktail straws are involved, to be precise. The system upgrade has been extremely rocky, with the server bouncing from fine to frozen. We've cynically laid bets as to when our next hotfix will be issued. As far as we can tell, our migration has been the direct cause of two hotfixes so far. This would be #3.

On top of that, I had another software implementation project that had been put on hold so I could work on the system-upgrade project- this is for the equipment calibration management I do. The system is being passed off to a sub-department of my workgroup (not a bad thing, less work for me) but the transfer and implementation have been accelerated.

So I have about three weeks to finish the validation package, update all the work instructions, train my replacement admin, shepherd my replacement through the validation, and turn the system over to her.

Whee.

Plus Sally and Elliott are closing on their new house next week, so I will be taking time off to help move them in and settle in/unpack. Less time at work.

I know I thrive on a certain amount of stress, but this is waaaay past that level.
