I'm having a hard time with the next illustration for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. I want to draw the moment just as the book describes but there's so little information. I'm getting stuck on important decisions as the colour of the seats inside the Hogwarts Express, or what kind of train window can open far enough to give a hug to your mother? And do wizard kids drink pumpkin juice out of a thermos can or one of those cardboard boxes? (which I don't know the name of in English)
Apart from that it's taking a very long time just on technique, I knew when I started this series I wanted to draw the very best I could, but I often feel I'm just not that good. And at the same time I enjoy painting with the window open, listening to chamber music and drinking a cup of tea on a very nice spring day. (Occasionaly dipping my brush in the tea.)
And a last note: Magenta Comstock on JK Rowling's side made laugh out loud. I wish I was a witch just to do that. Humor is still the best charm :)
