Now I don't mean getting lucky in the modern sense of the word, well, there was that also, but more to the point I've been extremely lucky over the past month. I've got a new job starting next week. I've made the move to a new city. They've offered more money than previously indicated, in the form of relocation assistance. I flew out a day early, on a whim, and missed the terrible weather on the East Coast that certainly would have grounded me for the weekend. I've enjoyed the outrageously wonderful support of friends here. And I was able to find a spectacular place not fifty feet from the bus stop I take to work, on my first day of looking. It is a bit small, but I don't need bigger. It is a bit in the expensive range, but for the amenities the location offers, the price is great.
Speaking of "on a whim", most everything that has happened is due to some whim or another. It was a whim that prompted me to go to the communications job fair at Howard University in the first place, which eventually led to this job. And it was on a whim that I decided to walk over to the other side of the park, and caught sight of the "apartment for rent" sign out of the corner of my eye.
Incredible.
