I guess it's time for a big update.

We successfully went to Canterbury Faire. It was a long event, from Saturday to following Sunday, and that was great. We had plenty of time to set up, plenty of time to hang out and chat with people, and no rush to try to fit everything in that we wanted to do.

So I keep writing about the weather. But it's not just my imagination, Wellington is a pretty drastic place, weatherwise. We swing from extreme to extreme, sometimes in an extremely short time. "If you don't like the weather, wait an hour and try again".

The windiest place in NZ today was Mt KauKau (which is the mountain we look at across the valley). 159km gusts. And they even did a story on the evening news about how Wellington had been suffering Weather. So yeah, it was a windy day.

I ended up taking four kids to their activity, sparing the baby an exciting trip outside. Saw some minor slips around the place on the way down to town. More excingly, a tree had fallen off the edge of the botanic gardens and landed on a parked car. Fire service were there, and police ( Read more... )
