We woke when we woke, had breakfast and the girls had a lovely time using the flash shower while I had a cup of coffee. Then we decided to take a constitutional, given that the weather was rather nice compared to the day before. We got as far as the waterfront, and were looking at a poster for dolphin watching when a nice lady came up to us and asked if we wanted to go on the boat that left in half an hour.
So we did.
And we did!
When we stopped at the island where one stops on these trips, the girls went paddling and collecting shells. Five days ago we were stoking the fire and wrapping up in winter coats and gloves! The girls have now clicked to why I want to retire up here...
We got off in Russell, and explored a little, and went to Pompallier House. And when we'd done that, we took the ferry back to Paihia and finished our walk. And then we went to the Treaty grounds, and had a lovely time exploring the 'birthplace of the nation'.
Now we've had fish and chips, and decided we needed some downtime. So Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I may or may not go and get myself a glass of wine from the bar in a bit, depends on whether I want to brave the rain that has returned.
Tomorrow we head South.
