So, no one tells you or reccomends to you when you start to teach that you pack/have an extra set of clothes in your car or room.
Today, I was planning on video taping my calendar lesson because it didn't get done the first time when I tried.
It was about 10 minutes into the school day I sat down at a student's desk to help them with the writing assignment they had and I heard "RIIIIIIP". I thought to myself please don't let that be what I think it is. Oh yes it was, my pants had caught on the little screw heads on the chair back and ripped my pants, and I'm not talking about a little rip either. Plus, black pants with pink underwear, not a good situation.
Luckily since I'm still student teaching I was able to cover it (since it was right on my butt) for a bit with my shirt (none of the students ever saw! Thank god) and let my CT know and go home and change.
But of course that meant driving across portland and back in prime time rush hour, meaning both ways there were traffic. I also had to go to the cleaners to get my pants so I could have something suitable teacher dress wise to wear.
It seemed to take forever and that meant no, no video taping today because I was gone during calendar time. Oh well, at least the kids didn't see and they were in a good mood all day because of the pizza party they were having in the afternoon and because of no school tomorrow, which I must say I am going to thoroughly enjoy.
BTW has any one else had this happen to them? Or anything equally embarassing?
