Carl and I went up to my boss's cottage this weekend in Lexington with our friends Kevin and Lisa and their daughter Madisen. We went up Friday, had a barbeque, and went down to the water. Madisen LOVED the lake, so we sat there for a long time while she picked up and dropped countless rocks. (She's 2... she thought it was cool) She took a liking to Carl too; she even asked him to sit on his lap at the fire. (He always says that he doesnt want a daughter... but every little girl that we ever go near seems to love him... and he doesnt seem to mind :)
Saturday we made a big breakfast, went into town and walked around, and then went back and went swimming. It was SO freakin' hot that we were in there for well over an hour. The cottage doesnt have air conditioning, so even though I didnt really feel like swimming, I stayed in there for a long time so I didnt melt to death.
We went out to lunch, and it was the cutest thing... Madisen decided it was a good idea to swing a knife from the table around, and Lisa took it from her and told her to stop... so the kid is smart enough to go "But Mumma, I love you SO much. I love you! I love you!" I know I would have given in... Carl and I thought it was so cute, but Kevin and Lisa are apparently hip to her games and were like, "Yeah Madisen, I love you too. No, you don't get your fork and knife back."
It was so nice to get a weekend to relax, not have to worry about anything, and just enjoy doing... nothing.
Tuesday is my last final for the summer, and I am super geeked for it. I can't wait to be done with school for a while... I'm tired!
