So the past couple of months I have noticed I haven't been feeling very good about myself. I haven't been happy with the way I've looked for years (probably about 5-6 years) but I was still as okay as I could be with all the stuff that was happening. At this point now... I am so ready to put all the past into the past (even though I am really only at the beginning of that journey) that the way I have let myself go (in all areas) has really been bothering me. Everything on me just feels dull... dull skin, dull teeth, dull clothes... nothing has vibrance or life in it. I decided it was time to start doing something about it... I started giving myself facials about a month ago and it felt so good to be doing something that really had no purpose other than to make me feel good.
I am a firm believer that portion of one's tax refund should be used for purely frivolous purposes... so I always shop awhile before using it for bills. I bought some stuff on ebay and it has just been in the last day or two that I am really beginning to see a difference.
I bought...
Glycolic acid peel from this person who has very poor customer service... but I bought a
stronger glycolic peel for later use from a different person who had fantastic customer service and who I would buy from again specifically because of that.
I also bought some
microderm abrasion crystals from another lady with great customer service and this stuff really works too. You can barely feel it while exfoliating, but then when you rinse it off you realize wow I took off some skin there and need to be more careful and use less the next time (LOL). You use so little you really could get by with just a small purchase although I didn't realize that and purchased 8 oz... which I will eventually use...
I got a
Dentist strength teeth whitener for a really good price. I got 22% (they also have... I think 35%) and I saw a difference after the first time. I waited a week and did it again and saw even more difference. I think my teeth had light discoloration (I cringe to use that word... they just looked ... well... dull ... for lack of a better word) and I am very happy with the results. They are subtle, but thats what I wanted.
I also got some burts bees lip balm for a really good price, and some funky soaps...
The biggest change has come from the glycolic peel. The days following it I could see a little improvement each day in my skin tone and texture. I just did the second application today so hopefully I will see even more!!
I know these are all just surface changes, but these are the things I have neglected while trying to recover from the aftermath of Doug. And I think my readiness to see this reflects my readiness to start putting everything behind me...
