Action over the past week

Other than still missing all you guys back home, this trip is still going rather well.

After leaving Prague, I stayed in München for 4 nights for a pre-oktoberfest tour of the city. I have to say that I am very unimpressed with my experience in München so far. Whilst the city is a very beautiful place to see (very clean, lots of nice old gothic buildings and cheapish beer), the people of München leave a lot to be desired.

Being Oktoberfest, there are quite a large number of Germans who make their way to München to celebrate as well. As it turns out, my hostel was about 200m down the road to where the grounds for Oktoberfest were. So about 95% of the people who were in my Hostel were Germans or rich middle-aged tourists. No matter where I went in the city, my attempts to speak to the locals or the Germans in the hostel was met with shrug and hand cues telling me they dont speak English or want to. The feeling I got from the whole city is that they hated the tourists who came there. Shopkeepers were so rude and unhelpful. Compared to Berlin, the München locals felt alot like Londoners.

The best part about München was the Deutches Museum and the Neuschwanstein Castle near Füssen. Ill hopefully have some photos of that up later if I can find another internet cafe with decent upstream.

So after München, I made my way south to Interlaken in Switzerland. This place is sooo damn pretty. Easily the most expensive place I have been to yet, there are so many sports one can do here if you can sign over your mortgage. I went skydiving yesterday and got 3 jumps in. On my 2nd jump, My camera box had a malfunction and I lost my camera at about 6k ft. It landed on some poor guys roof cracking some tiles in the process. That cost me about 50CHF which I am VERY VERY luck for. The Swiss are very anal people. Noise laws are such that there is no skydiving allowed at lunchtime (12pm - 1pm) and after 10pm.

I managed to get a gallery up and running at http://pirionsystems.com.au/~marc/gallery/ and have started to upload some photos. You can see the what happened to my camera in there too.

Anyway, I have another whole day here in Interlaken before I head off to Nice in France. I am getting sick of living out of a backpack atm. I am hoping to find a place that has enough life to it that I can just chill out for a week or two. That's all I really want. I am thinking that might be in Saint Sebastian in France.

Adios amigos!
