Westley (The Princess Bride [movie])
Before anyone points this out, yes I am aware that The Princess Bride was a book before it was a movie. However, I think we can all agree that the movie is an iconic part of American culture, whereas the book is much less well-known (also, this book-->movie adaptation is, I think, a strong argument in favor of the authors doing the adapting - it is SUCH a good adaptation). Also, personally - since this meme IS about my preferences - this movie has been my absolute favorite movie since I was about 11 years old, and I didn't read the book until I was 19 or so. So the movie will always have the #1 spot in my heart, and it is Cary Elwes AS Westley that I am specifically talking about here.
And after that lengthy intro, I don't actually have that much to say. Westley is a farm boy who tells Buttercup (a total moron, for the record) that he loves her by saying, "As you wish." (Don't we all?) He is kidnapped by the Dread Pirate Roberts and not only avoids being murdered but in fact BECOMES the new Dread Pirate Roberts. He rescues Buttercup (the idiot, who is apparently incapable of recognizing his voice when blindfolded, BECAUSE SHE IS A DUMBASS) from Vizzini and takes her through the Fire Swamp and rescues her from the castle and has all kinds of adventures, including returning to life from being mostly dead (which, as everyone - or at least Billy Crystal - knows, isn't the same as being all dead). Also, he looks hot while doing this. Also, he wears a mask well. Also, he is a good swordfighter. Also, he has the patience to put up with Buttercup, who is possibly the stupidest person to ever walk the face of the earth. HE IS A SAINT.
