The chives are up (germination outdoors took from 3/23 to 4/4).
Now what am I going to do with them aside from eggs (omelet, scrambled, deviled) and vinaigrette?

There are two items I'm considering getting...you know, in the next few months....

1.  A shitake log, or other mushroom log. I love mushrooms and think it would be really cool to grow them in my utility/hvac closet (unfinished, partially insulated, much circulation).  I've looked at the ones on Edible Landscaping (nifty site!) and Lost Creek Farm.  ( Read more... )

...I just made a huuuuuge mess using the blender to make hummus.  I added so much lemon juice, oil and even water in order to keep the blender blending...well, the end result is reminiscent of a chickpea smoothie.

Went home (parents' house in the 'burg) this weekend, with RaRa.  Picked up the kiddo who was having a great time.  He loves playing outside, and said his favorite part of the weekend was playing on the rope tree, a big (50 foot?) poplar that has a rope tied to each of the bottom ten branches.  He swings and climbs and otherwise "works on upper ( Read more... )

 Yesterday, for mothers' day, Sam gave me a bottle of organic ketchup (Williams Sonoma, $10), two marigolds in a school-decorated carton, and a card he drew.  Eeeexcellent.  That ketchup will be great on tater tots, dontcha think?
