The End - NaNo Novel

Nov 17, 2008 19:45

Yep - tonight I typed the two most magical words in any novel: The End.

I HATE the ending.  It sucks!  Yea Crap!

It will just have to live that way until I edit it.  That is a different month, different time.

It is now time for me to get back to writing Courage in the Shadows. What?  You haven't heard about Courage in the Shadows?

Let me give you a little overview.  See back in 1926 in southern Iowa, the roads were beginning to be paved.  Until then they were mostly dirt roads. So this new road through the county was going to make a diagonal path cross one particular farm stead.  Seems the farmer of this farm stead had made the comment to several people that if the Sheriff (who he had previous battles with) came to serve the papers for condemnation for his land, he would shoot the Sheriff.

Guess what?  The day the Sheriff came to serve the papers, he (the sheriff) was shot by an unknown assassin.  The shooter was inside the barn and shot through the door.  The farmer is arrested that afternoon (in town) and taken to jail. The sheriff dies the next day.

Hmmm - interesting?  It also becomes a tale of two brothers: the new Sheriff is the brother to the slain sheriff.  The defense attorney is the older brother of the accused farmer.

So who shot the sheriff? (Apologies to Eric Clapton).
