Gridlock goodness...

It's been a while since I've gotten that emotional at Doctor Who, and Lord knows Gridlock did not disappoint.

Would've loved to see a bit more of Novice Hame, she's grown up a lot since the comedy of errors that was New Earth. But I'm just prejudiced since I'm a cat lover. And Ardal O'Hanlon was adorable with whiskers, frankly.

But onto the meat of ( Read more... )

I wish RTD hadn't blown his 'Gallifrey Load' in the abysmal Runaway Bride - it would've had more impact if he had managed to say it for the first time last night, or later on this series, instead of his big stupid "Look at me, I'm so dark" speech to the Queen of the Immobile Spiders and Catherine bloody Tate. x

True, but at least the Empress knew what Gallifrey was and the significance behind it. Martha and Rose...hmmm. Not sure, but at least Martha's getting the Doctor to talk about it, which is more than Rose did. Physician, heal thyself.

Pfft, I would have no right to mock someone for crying at Doctor Who; I cry at tv programmes and films all the time!

And If i'd been there, I wouldn't have mocked you. As I burst into tears the other week while watching The Animals of Farthing wood - when 2 hedgehogs die.

Oh Lordy, the one where they get stuck crossing the motorway and the hedgehogs get too scared to move? I cried like a baby when I first saw that - I was only about 10!

I still do..it's the music and the way she begs her husband to move and she refuses to leave him and the music's building up and then she shouts 'oh no', oh it's heartbreaking. I'm almost in tears writing about it. And to think it was a show for kids!!!

The emotional moments were done really well, the description of home was beautiful - I have a really nice mental image of it, which I hope they don't ever spoil by knocking up a cheap set/cgi version of it - but I wouldn't mind it coming up in one of the books (where imagination is still king!)

Other than that I enjoyed the environmentalist theme of the episode. In fact, I'm convinced it was SSP propaganda, they just cut the last five minutes of it which was in fact Alan McCombes explaining the fundamentals of "Free Public Transport" and how it would be implemented.
