Published Buffy essay (woo-ness abounds), and a bit of fanfic talk

Aug 22, 2006 20:50

An essay I wrote about Buffy ('Traveling Between Mediums: Buffy's Ascent into Television') was accepted into The Undergraduate Journal of Buffy Studies.

And they finally have the issue up and running!

If anyone's interested or, you know, bored and into Buffy, here's the link to my essay:

Traveling Between Mediums: Buffy's Ascent into Television

There's quite a bit of gender theory going on in there (they asked me to include it) and those areas can get confusing and are filled with an absurd amount of 'thus's I've just realised, but ah well, I wrote this last year.

One published academic piece down, a trillion more to go...*sigh* I'm in third year, apparently we're meant to have been published at least once every year since starting uni, for our portfolios and all. Yeah right. It's not just me that thinks undergraduates aren't meant to do much more than get good grades, sleep in lots, and figure out their career path, right? We can play folio catch-up later.

Plus, fanfic calls stronger =D On that note, 'Lessons' is near completion. I completely rewrote half of it and went back and tightened the earlier chapters (die adjectives, die!) and I'm much happier with it. Hey, you Americans, what date does SPN return? *twists fingers in anticipation*

essay, fanfic, buffy
