End of October... TGIO!
-Wednesday late afternoon I learned that my computer was finally fixed and available to pick up (needed to call to make an 'appointment' to do so and then trek over to Pentagon City, but at least transit didn't fail and I got my computer back!)
-this ended up having me barely make it to Clarendon in time for trivia at a new site (the format was Trivia Kings - which itself had size restrictions on teams which were frustrating; we did okay though... despite me being nearly useless because nearly half of the trivia was movies and TV shows in honor of Halloween)
-Thursday I wanted to make it out to Rustico for what looked like an awesome festival, but it turned out the 'festival' was merely a lot of pumpkin themed beers on tap (and I didn't even see the food specials that the website mentioned). At least the beers were good, though it was REALLY hard to find a seat... and the rest of the day was essentially recovery.
-As for today? Well... discovering that Republic's happy hour is even better than I thought (delicious $6 cocktails!)... and also, after several tries, finding a reasonable bypass for traffic that avoids a particularly bad road - and 'only' requires 4 extra turns compared to my normal routes (by using back roads with speed limit 35-50).
of course, all the usual frustrations are still present (for dating? don't even ask, and there's so many reasons the area feels wrong for me, even if Arlington is the best part) but at least I have an invite to a potentially great party tomorrow - and an interview with an interesting social club the day after?
*faints out of the stress of the week and month*
