Seven things: meme to procrastinate
Comment to this post, and I will list seven things I want you to talk about. They might make sense or they might be totally random. Then post that list, with your commentary, to your journal. Other people can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.

1) Finland: the place I fell in love with during a conference in 2007 in the summer (even though the math was exhausting it was a great week) and where I moved to in January of this year for a postdoc. Either a second chance to revive my math career... or maybe the slow, funeralesque swan song: depending on how this year's job cycle and research goes. Things haven't been great research-wise so far, but with a major presentation tomorrow I COULD get new ideas and insights - and as for everything else: let's just call the year a mixed bag so far with both good and bad.
Oh, and everyone has interesting taste...
2) Toaster oven: something I had in CA but not here in Helsinki - and something I really don't think much about or even use that much - though I did start a fire in it (a convection oven) once when trying to heat some bread and placing paper towel between bread and the grill.
3) Cocktail: I LOVE good tasting cocktails, like high quality margaritas - or certain things involving chocolate - or mojitos, caipirinhas, grog, or mimosas for that matter (though bad cocktails SUCK!) I also have been known to make myself spiked hot chocolate by adding liquor, if that counts as one. One last thing: I have a specific test for a bar the first time I go in there - I order a rum and coke to see if it can make ANY cocktails; if they manage to fuck up THE EASIEST MIXER ON THE PLANET I'm not getting any more cocktails there!
4) Exercise: It really wears me out at times - but I definitely make sure to do it in order to stay in shape (if not nearly as much as many other people from LA). I work out in the gym several times a week - and used to always like to try to walk or bike to work always getting SOME passive exercise in (though the cold in Helsinki makes that impossible, the tram stop is still really far away so it's kind of the same)... and getting to swim here is also something that can be relaxing!
5) Bunny: Something that - well - I have no connection to although there's a legacy connection related to certain communities I'm part of (though it also reminds me about the specific people who were involved with it in the first place...)
6) Children: I do not want to have children; I want to have ONE child when I have a family of my own when I'm older! This was planned out even when I was 16 and it is even more important now unless I end up being a zillionaire (between cost of living and cost of college: it would SUCK if my spawn couldn't afford to go to college considering how much of a necessity it is for A LOT of jobs)
7) Winning: Something that I really really really like when it happens... and get very very frustrated when it doesn't. *grits teeth to concentrate*
