Fourth of July

We had such a nice time for the Fourth of July; I feel like I really did have a three-day weekend. Son Joe, WINOLJ, and three of his friends came over for a rollicking BBQ, galacticvoyeur almost finished the deck, I sewed a quick pair of pedal pushers for the occasion, and a good time was had by all. Didn't quite make it to the fireworks, but after reading dreamshark's account of their journey to St. Anthony Main, I remember why I told myself not to try that one again. We enjoyed the endless booms from a safe distance (in the hot tub...). The summer feels like it is zooming away so quickly! I have so much to do in the next couple months that it is hard to be at work, but we do have a great air conditioning plan here. I will try to absorb each day as it happens so I can remember them all when the snow is falling soundlessly outside the window. Living here makes me appreciate summer so much more than in California. I revel in the colors and smells of the foliage and the way the air feels right after a storm. Last week I attended a get-together of imaginary friends from TableTalk on Salon.com. It is a writer's forum, much like LJ, and it was really a hoot to meet them in person. I made some wonderful new friends from Eau Claire and Plymouth and right here in Minneapolis. I will be having an art gallery opening on Thursday, August 2, at the Northrup King Building and hope you can all come. I will send out invitations as soon as they arrive from the printer, but save the date! It is from 5:00-9:00 p.m.
